Pepsi League August Manager of the Month
« Reply #1 on: September 04, 2020, 02:58:17 pm »
The newly formed Pepsi League has the potential to be the most exciting leagues this season and by the end of the month, there were some clear early runners whilst there were some surprises along the way as some teams struggled for early season form.

The COE FA decided that there were three candidates for the manager of the month award for August as follows:

Drum – Ajax Amsterdam
Code: [Select]
16-Aug AC Milan A W 3-1
23-Aug Galatasaray SK H W 3-0
30-Aug AS Roma         A D 1-1

Littlemonkey – SK Slavia Prague
Code: [Select]
16-Aug Sevilla         A W 5-0
23-Aug VfL Wolfsburg H W 1-0
30-Aug Rosenborg BK H W 5-1

Mancini – Malaga CF
Code: [Select]
16-Aug RB Leipzig A W 5-1
23-Aug Sevilla         H W 2-0
30-Aug VfL Wolfsburg A W 1-0

There was a straight two horse race with both Littlemonkey’s SK Slavia Prague and Mancini’s Malaga CF both having 100% records with three wins from three.  The decision was made to award Mancini the manager of the month award on the basis that two of his sides three wins came away from home.

Littlemonkey came in a very close second place despite an impressive home win against Rosenborg BK as two of their wins came at home.  Despite missing out, Littlemonkey has already proved that he is a shrewd operator and his side will be a team to watch this season.

In third place was Drum’s Ajax Amsterdam.  They started the season with an impressive away win at one of the title favourites, AC Milan and though they picked up a comfortable win at home to Galatasaray, their draw away to AS Roma proved decisive.

September's candidates for MOTM in the Pepsi League:

Slavia Prague won 3 of their 4 games, losing the other one.
Villarreal who also won 3 of their games and drew the forth.
Lazio who won all 4 of their league games this month.

With all 3 having good a season at the top of the table it is Lazio that win the award.  They won all 4 games in September and are the most improved team of the 3 teams.

Congratualtions to Lazio manager Raingod who wins the award for September.

There were 2 managers from last month who were also in contention for the award this month.

Lazio won all 3 games in October to reamain top of the table.
Villarreal won 2 and draw 1 of their 3 games to keep up the pressure.
Bayer Leverkusen who also won 2 and drew 1, propelling themselves up the table.

Leverkusen were the most improved team but it's impossible to ignore Lazio who won all 3 games and have now won 7 games in a row.

Pepsi manager of the month is Raingod and his Lazio team.
Winning the award for the second month running.

The Pepsi League was far closer in the month of November – with no team managing to win more than 4 out of 6.

Lazio, Roma and Anderlecht each won 3 out of 6, but this was not enough to be shortlisted.

The top 3 all had identical records of P6 W4 D1 L1.

AC Milan

After a slower start to the season than many were expecting, Milan have started to hit form at a crucial point in the season – were one of the pre season favourites and did beat Lazio in one of their 4 victories. Well played Gary!

Villareal

Identical record, but crucially a 3-2 defeat of Lazio on the last day of the month puts them at the top of the table. Good work Daz!

Wolfsburg

Always struggle to attract a manager, but imagine what this side could do if coached properly! 5 clean sheets out of their 6 matches!!

Either of the 3 sides could justify the award .. but given the run has put them at the top of the table the award goes to Daz!

5 clubs failed to win a league game in December, and no surprises that the 3 shortlisted are all from the top 3 listed above …

AC Milan P3 W3 D0 L0

A 100% record for Gary in the month, with 8 goals scored, and none conceded so 3 clean sheets! This leaves them 6 points from the top (effectively 7 as a far inferior GD) – with 7 games to play …

Lazio P3 W2 D1 L0

Disappointing draw at the start of the month with Slavia P saw Lazio slip a further 2 points behind Villareal – the board have fully supported Raingod and promotion is the expectation … !

Villareal P3 W3 D0 L0

Another 100% record, also with 8 scored, but 2 conceded .. hard to see them dropping points on current form ...

Very little to choose between Milan and Villareal as they both have 100% records … with the 3 clean sheets (vs. 1) and +2 better GD, the award for December goes to Gary G!
